Dr. Asem Khalil is selected as member of editorial board of the Journal of Politics and Law (JPL)

 

Dr.  Asem Khalil is selected as member of editorial board of the Journal of Politics and Law (JPL). JPL is a peer-reviewed journal, published by Canadian Center of Science and Education. The journal publishes research papers in the fields of politics, law, International relations and government research.

A lecture on the European Union: History, Law and Institutions entitled: “The European Parliament: a rising Star?”

 

On Thursday November 24,    2011the Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies hosted Mr. Felix Dane, Representative to the Palestinian Territories Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Ramallah, for a lecture within a course entitled “The European Union: History, Law and Institutions.” The title of the lecture was “The European Parliament: a rising Star?” in which Mr. Dane discussed the European Parliement (EP) vis a vis other EU Institutions, the EP as an international actor, and ways of influencing the EP.

Memorandum of Understanding between Birzeit University and UNRWA

 

On November 21st, 2011, The Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies  signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UNARWA so as to enhance cooperation between the two parties in shared fields and objectives. This memorandum was signed between Dr. Munir Qazzaz , the vice president for community outreach at Birzeit University, and Mr. Philipo Grandi, the commissioner General of Unrwa, during the annual Conference held by the Ibrahim Abu- Lughod Institiute of International Studies entitled “Palestinian Refugees: Different Generations but One Identity”.".

Dr. Asem Khalil Participated in a Conference Organized by ETG

Dr. Asem Khalil participated in a conference organized by ETG - the European Training Foundation, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the skills dimension of migration in the Euro-Mediterranean countries, in presence of experts from Europe and the Arab countries.

Dr. Asem Khalil was invited to the Palestine TV Program

 

Dr. Asem Khalil was invited to the Palestine TV Program, Good Morning Palestine, to speak about the Workshop on Water in Palestine, together with Dr. Shaddad Attili, Head of Palestinian Water Authority, and Mr. Qaddura Mousa, Governor of Jenin. You can watch the interview.

A new peer-reviewed article will appear for Dr. Asem Khalil in mid-November 2011, on Socioeconomic Rights of Palestinian Refugees in Arab Countries, Vol.23, N.4, pages 680-719.

Dr. Raed Bader participated in a Round table discussion in France entitle: “Researchers between Freedom and Fear”

 

Dr. Raed Bader participated in a roundtable discussion organized by the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Research in Marseille and the topic of which was: researchers between freedom and fear. This meeting came on the sidelines of the eighteenth edition of the "Encounters of Averroes", - "Ibn Rushd"-organized annually in the French city of Marseille. The theme for this year was, "Europe and Islam:freedom or fear."
