A Lecture as in Psychological, Social and Existential Dimensions of Refugee Life entitle: "Palestinians and statelessness"

 

Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies (IALIIS) hosted Dr. Abbas Sheblak on Wednesday 15 June, 2011 in the “Psychological, Social and Existential Dimensions of Refugee Life” course.

Dr. Shiblak, discussed the issue of statelessness of Palestinians. As a matter of fact, as he said, the Palestinians considered the largest stateless people in the world. Mentioning the impact of statelessness on their life, since nationality is the key to life inside or outside one’s country, which allows “citizens” to enjoy the  services countries deliver.

A Lecture in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolutions entitle "Post Arab revolutions and peace/stability in the middle east"

 

Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies (IALIIS) hosted Dr. Rashid al-Khalidi on Saturday 11 June, 2011 as part of “Peace Studies and Conflict resolutions course”.

Dr. Khalidi discussed the current Arab revolutions, which represent a new era of the Arab political life, and constituted new possibilities Arabs have not witnessed for a very long time. Led to the overthrown of the dictatorial regimes in Arab countries. 

Roundtable meetings: Refugee Convention, Refugee in Egypt.

 

The IALIIS hosted Prof. Barbar Harrell-Bond Oxford University, and Oroub El-Abed-SOASUniversity, to run a roundtable meeting covering the case of Refugees in Egypt and Refugee Convention.   

Honorary Doctorate for 2011

 

Birzeit University granted the honorary doctorate for the year 2011 to: Dr. Walid Khalidi, Mohammad Masrouji, and Mohammad Emran Bamia.

Thesis Defense: The Role of U.S Media in the Making of U.S Foreign Policy: Al Hurra Channel Model

 

Under the Supervision of a Committee Consisted of Dr. Walid al Shurafa as the Head of Committee Dr. Wadad Albarghouthi and Dr. Ahmad Musleh, Maher Derawi Defended his Thesis entitled ” The  Role of U.S Media in the Making of U.S Foreign Policy: Al Hurra Channel Model”

Dr. Asem Khalil presented a paper entitled: “Beyond the Written Constitution: Constitutional Crisis of, and the Institutional Deadlock in, the Palestinian Political System as entrenched in the Basic Law.”

 

Dr. Asem Khalil presented a paper in a conference organized by Faculty of Law of the Al-Quds University on May 8th, 2011, entitled: “Beyond the Written Constitution: Constitutional Crisis of, and the Institutional Deadlock in, the Palestinian Political System as entrenched in the Basic Law.”
