Memorandum of Understanding between Birzeit University and UNRWA

 

On November 21st, 2011, The Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies  signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UNARWA so as to enhance cooperation between the two parties in shared fields and objectives. This memorandum was signed between Dr. Munir Qazzaz , the vice president for community outreach at Birzeit University, and Mr. Philipo Grandi, the commissioner General of Unrwa, during the annual Conference held by the Ibrahim Abu- Lughod Institiute of International Studies entitled “Palestinian Refugees: Different Generations but One Identity”.".

The Two parties agreed on cooperation in several areas relating to migration and refugee issues, and in order to develop activities and initiatives in these areas;  they agreed on working together on: enhancing access to data and analytical research, exchanging knowledge on Palestinian refugee issues, arranging periodic joint sponsorship of public or private sectors regarding Palestinian refugee issues,  and exchanging research agendas. Also this memorandum aims at providing internship opportunities to Master Students in the IALIIS programme  so that they would be part of UNRWA’s field of work,  and finally arranging the right preparations so as to enable    UNRWA’s  crew to participate in courses on refugee studies and forced migration.
