Roger Heacock participated in a two-day working session in Marseille

Roger Heacock participated in a two-day working session in Marseille, May 10-11, 2011, devoted to discussing the outlines of a projected and unprecedented common four-volume unified textbook of the history of the Mediterranean to be drafted by historians from both sides of the Inner Sea and covering the period stretching from antiquity through the middle and modern ages to the contemporary era. The purpose of the manual is to provide background and analysis for teachers of history throughout the region, east and west, south and north. The project is sponsored by the Union for the Mediterranean with support from “Marseille/Provence, capital of culture 2013”. R. Heacock is involved in discussing all of the four manuscripts in preparation, with a more specific contribution to the fourth volume, on the contemporary period.
