Book author discusses his work on role of popular politics in the Middle East

 
The Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science John Chalcraft presented on May 27, 2017 a lecture on the subject of his book “Popular Politics in the Making of the Modern Middle East” in a lecture organized by Ibrahim Abu Lughod Institute of International Studies at Birzeit the university.
Chalcraft looked at how unorganized groups and citizens have long mobilized in defiance of authorities and forges a new narrative of change over time.

Hungarian Delegation Traces History of Relations with Palestine, Strengthens Academic Cooperation in Visit to Birzeit

 
Prof. Erzsébet Rózsa, head of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at the National University of Public Service in Hungary, gave a lecture organized by Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies and facilitated by Dr. Abderrahman Haj-Ibrahim on the historical relations between Palestine and Eastern-Europe, on Thursday, November 8, 2018.

A pedagogical review of Palestine in academia: The Teaching Palestine conference at Birzeit University

 
The Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies and the Institute of Women’s Studies at Birzeit University, in cooperation with the Arab and Muslim Ethnicities and Diasporas Studies at San Francisco State University, organized an international conference, entitled “Teaching Palestine: Pedagogical Praxis and the Indivisibility of Justice,” on March 20, 2018.

Symposium examines state, future of the Palestinian cause

 
The Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies at Birzeit University, in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, organized a symposium entitled “Complex Issues of the Palestinian Cause: The Question of Representation, Autonomy, and Future Scenarios,” on December 16, 2017. The symposium was facilitated and commentated by the Professor of Cultural Studies and International Studies Dr. Ghassan Al-Khatib.

Mr. Proudfoot delivered a lecture on Canadian- Palestinian relations attended by a number of students, faculty members and other distinguished guests. Rohingya refugee crisis explained to international migration master’s students

 
Birzeit University students enrolled in the master’s program in International Migration and Refugee Studies offered by the Ibrahim Abu Lughod Institute for International Studies were introduced to the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. Fahimda Karim, an associate protection officer at the United Nations Refugee Agency UNHCR, told the students about the history and current condition of the crisis, the legal status of the refugees, and role of UNHCR in protecting them.

Graduates and students of the Master’s in International Studies Program, offered by the Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies at Birzeit University, presented papers in which they analyzed political phenomena affecting the Arab countries and the world as a whole in a symposium organized by the institute on Saturday, December 8, 2018.
