International Development Research Centre (IDRC)


The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is a Crown corporation created by the Parliament of Canada in 1970 to help developing countries use science and technology to find practical, long-term solutions to the social, economic, and environmental problems they face. Our support is directed toward creating a local research community whose work will build healthier, more equitable, and more prosperous societies. Ibrahim Abu Lughod Institute for International Studies (IALIIS) has a major partnership with (IDRC), through which the (IDRC) funded the (IALIIS) aims at establishing a unit specialized in Forced Migration and Refugees. The unit has three main components, research, concentration in forced migration and refugees as part of master program in international studies, and training. This comes in line with the primary mission of the IDRC which is empowerment through knowledge.



Institut de Recherche sur le Maghreb Contemporain (IRMC)
 The Research Institute on Contemporary Maghreb, which is one of the 27 French research institutes around the world, was established in 1992 in Tunisia under the supervision of the French ministry of foreign and European affairs, the Ministry of higher education and scientific research since 2000, and the national center for scientific research. The institute aims to contribute to developing the research in Moroccan human and social sciences.


Centre for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS)

The Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) is part of the American University in Cairo (AUC) is committed to protect the rights of international migrant workers, and to bring out their economic, cultural and social contributions to countries of origin and destination. (CMRS) holds a strong belief that recognizing the contributions of migrant workers is the best means to protecting their integrity and their rights in countries of destination and to preserving their status as full citizens in countries of origin. The director of CMRS is one of the notable members of advisory committees that guide our unit (FMRU).


Consortium for Applied Research on International Migration (CARIM)


 The Consortium for Applied Research on International Migration (CARIM) was created at the European University Institute (EUI, Florence), under the Thematic programme for cooperation with the third countries in the areas of migration and asylum. This consortium aims at observing, analyzing and forecasting migration in Southern & Eastern Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Countries. (CARIM) and (IALIIS) partner in various activities related to exchange of experiences and expertise in the field of migration.



United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA)


The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) provides assistance, protection and advocacy for registered Palestine refugees in the Middle East, The Agency’s services encompass education, health care, relief, camp infrastructure and improvement, community support, microfinance and emergency response, including in times of armed conflict. (UNRWA) is unique in terms of its long-standing commitment to one group of refugees, and its contributions to the welfare and human development of four generations of Palestine refugees. Originally envisaged as a temporary organization, the Agency has gradually adjusted its programmes to meet the changing needs of the refugees. The (IALIIS) has a very distinguished partnership with (UNRWA) in terms of expertise exchange, data and statics, teaching, training, workshops.
