The Forced Migration and Refugee Unit (FMRU) was established in 2007 (was known as the Refugee and International Migration Resource Unit) as part of the Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies (IALIIS) at Birzeit University.
FMRU is the first Unit of its kind in Palestine as it provides concentration in Forced Migration and Refugee Studies, this comes as part of Master programme in International Studies. Having this concentration conferres a new academic dimension; which is international migration and refugee studies, that is comparative in nature.
