Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS)

Freedom, justice and solidarity are the basic principles underlying the work of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). The KAS is a political foundation, closely associated with the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU). As co-founder of the CDU and the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967) united Christian-social, conservative and liberal traditions. His name is synonymous with the democratic reconstruction of Germany, the firm alignment of foreign policy with the trans-Atlantic community of values, the vision of a unified Europe and an orientation towards the social market economy. His intellectual heritage continues to serve both as our aim as well as our obligation today.

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC)

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) supports research in developing countries to promote growth and development. The result is innovative, lasting local solutions that aim to bring choice and change to those who need it most.

The Center for Forced Migration Studies (CFMS)

The Center for Forced Migration Studies was established in 2011 to engage an interdisciplinary group of students, academics, policy makers, refugee legal aid organizations, refugee community based organizations, writers, visual and performance artists to re-conceptualize refugee protection.

Institut de Recherche sur le Maghreb Contemporain (IRMC)

The Research Institute on Contemporary Maghreb is one of the 27 French research institutes around the world. It was established in Tunisia in 1992 under the supervision of the French ministry of foreign and European affairs, the Ministry of higher education and scientific research since 2000, and the national center for scientific research. The institute aims to contribute to developing the research in Moroccan human and social sciences.

Centre for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS)

The Centre for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) was first established in 2000 as the Forced Migration and Refugee Studies program (FMRS) and was expanded in 2008 into a Regional Centre encompassing all forms of international mobility, whether voluntary or forced, economic or political, individual or collective, temporary or permanent. CMRS activities include graduate education, research and outreach activities. CMRS offers a Master of Arts in migration and refugee studies, a graduate diploma in forced migration and refugee studies, and a new graduate diploma in Applied Psychosocial Interventions for forced migrants and refugees. The CMRS research program includes a systematic and comparative inventory of the situation regarding migration and refugee movements across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), as well as in-depth studies of emerging issues in the region. CMRS outreach includes disseminating knowledge on migration and refugee issues beyond the university’s gates, as well as providing a range of educational services to refugee communities in Cairo.

CARIM – Consortium for Applied Research on International Migration

The Consortium for Applied Research on International Migration (CARIM) was created at the European University Institute (EUI, Florence) in 2004 and is co-financed by the European Commission, DG AidCo, under the Thematic programme for cooperation with third countries in the areas of migration and asylum.

CARIM aims to observe, analyse, and forecast migration in Southern & Eastern Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Countries (hereafter the Region).The CARIM website is a tool for disseminating data and analyses on migration in the following countries: Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Palestine, Senegal, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, and Turkey. All are studied as origin, transit and destination countries.

CARIM is composed of a coordinating unit established at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) of the European University Institute, and a network of scientific correspondents based in the 17 countries under observation. External experts from the European Union and the Region also contribute to CARIM’s activities.

United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA)

UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) provides assistance, protection and advocacy for some 4.7 million registered Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the occupied Palestinian territory, pending a solution to their plight.
